A woman sarpanch and her aides had allegedly beaten up a Dalit man and two other woman in Dhurkot Kalan village on July 27th this year. All the three of them were thrashed brutally over a land dispute. The Sarpanch's Son himself recorded the harassment and post the video on social networking sites.
As per Suresh Kumar's version, He along with her colleague went to other colleague's house to recover Rs 2,000 she borrowed from them. Sarpanch and her men attacked them for no reason and they were later tied up to a tree.
Manpreet Kaur, one of the victims, complained to District SP about the attack. A Case under sections 342, 323 and 148 of Indian Penal Code has been registered against Sarpanch, her son and 6-8 others at Ajitwal police station. Special Teamed were formed to nab all the accused in the case.
The Woman Sarpanch, however, defended her actions by saying she often received complaints about some bad elements coming to the village and action has been taken when some suspected people entered the village.
Political Leaders have been mounting pressure on cops to withdraw the cases against the Woman Sarpanch. In return, Police threatened the victim to take back her complaint or face a drug case. When Media questioned about the inaction against accused, Cops skipped the question saying the case is under investigation right now.
